“Something wicked this way comes.” -second witch
Are you superstitious? I personally never want to tempt fate, so we didn’t even whisper MACBETH in the theater. Legend has it that saying MACBETH in the theater will invoke a curse. Instead, say “The Scottish Play”.
MACBETH is dark, riveting, and an incredible example of the toll that evil takes on the human soul. As the witches dance across the stage, chanting “All hail Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter”, a seed is planted, and nothing will be the same. It sparks a curse that changes a nobleman’s and soldiers’ lives forever.

That spark and seed of temptation grows, overtaking Macbeth and his zealous wife. They choose evil and corruption for personal gain and murder King Duncan. From that moment, we watch as their choice destroys everything. Macbeth is haunted by what he has done, and his mental health deteriorates. The chaos of his emotions builds and builds until…
The end is haunting and can be hard to watch. But it also offers hope, showing that good prevails when the people come together to fight evil.

Where to eat by the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis
We really like attending Saturday matinees at Guthrie Theater, having brunch before the show, and walking around the Mill City River District.
Farmers Kitchen + Bar is fantastic. They are a farmer to table restaurant entirely owned by local farmers who make up the Minnesota Farmers Union. They offer made from scratch local yums. I loved the Wild Rice Waldorf Salad and the Minnesota 8-Grain Griddle Cakes.

Make sure to take in all the Mississippi River views around the theater from the Stone Arch Bridge to Gold Medal Park. The windows and Endless Bridge create such unique perspectives.

Did you know we have a National Park right here in the Twin Cites? Learn more about the beautiful Mississippi National River and Recreation Area.
